Degree of Computer Science, Major in Data Science
My name is Yew Lee, and i'm a Computer Science degree student. As someone from the background of science, I am a very big fan of sciences, numbers, statistics, data and policies. I enjoy the process of turning ideas into policies and proposals.
I wouldn't consider myself as an activist or politician, rather a concerned citizen. I am very into human rights and environmental issues. As someone who is stateless and a child of migrant workers, I realized the need of an inclusive and progressive environment. I find it easy to empathize with someone, as I believe everyone should be kind and compassionate.
I have had some involvement in leadership positions in the past and working experiences in TAR UC, making myself equipped with sufficient knowledge and skills to qualify for Campus Wide position.
I ran for SRC Election last year, it did not work out well. I tried my best to help students to speak out and fight against injustices. However, the lack of identity as a student representative has made my struggle difficult and impossible.
Now I am here again, to continue my fight and finish what I have started. What motivates me to run for election again, is my desire to serve students, not to brush up my resume.
I believe that no one should be left behind in this new online learning environment.
I believe that every voice matters, even the smallest one or the unique ones.
I believe that financial burden should not be the limiting factor of excellence.
I believe that students’ participation in nation-building and solving local social problems is imperative, as per the responsibility of varsity students. Students should be solving social problems, not only business problems.
I believe that the post-COVID new normals are very hard to adapt to, therefore help and support is needed for campus life reintegration.
This list shows my past involvement and honours within 5 years.
